Black Labrador Retriever - Large - Young - Female - Dog - Pepper
Description
This is Pepper's story. She was picked up and taken to an Arkansas Humane Society as a puppy. Due to lack of management the dog became pregnant in the shelter, she was gang raped and still the shelter workers did nothing. When it was discovered she was giving birth in the general population on the cold floor it was too late. She had 11 puppies. The policy of the shelter is to put any puppies born in the shelter to sleep. They called a neighboring Humane Society and we took Pepper (heartworm negative) and her 5 living pups at 1 day old. They survived and are in new homes. Pepper is a wonderful girl. She runs like a greyhound with head down and flanks up. She doesn't run away and is a joy to watch. Her foster mom says her name should be "Precious" instead of Pepper. We believe her to be less than a year and very smart. She was confused having babies at 6+ month's but caught on quickly, now it is her turn at happiness. Adoption fee for Pepper who is current on shots, spayed and heartworm negative is $250.00. She will be transported by Alpha Dog Transport to parts in New England when you say she can come be your girl. They charge an additional $125.00. Thanks for reading our story. There are many more just like this one. When applying please consider your application seriously. We are unpaid volunteers trying to save these animals in addition most of us have jobs and families. When applying for an animal don't apply unless you are serious about taking a rescued animal into your home. To apply based on curiosity only to back out has cost another animal its life since the time we spent on your application could have been used to save another life.Once you are official notified by e-mail that your application has been approved you have 24 hours to make the donation on a pet who has not yet arrived into New England. Otherwise if a dog or puppy is sent on the transport and you are not at the drop location to receive your rescued pet, he has been abandoned once again .If a dog or puppy is already being fostered in New England and you feel you must meet the dog to finalize an adoption, only a reasonable amount of time will be allowed to accomplish this task, otherwise the next person on the list will be allowed to visit and possibly adopt the dog. If after agreeing to adopt one of our fur babies you decide to back out we will not consider another attempt to adopt from us in the future. FOR PUPPIES: HOMES CONSIDERING PUPPIES MUST BE PREPARED FOR:FLEXIBLE SCHEDULES FOR POTTY TRAINING-THEY CAN ONLY "HOLD" IT FOR ONE HOUR PER MONTH OF AGE.CRATE TRAINING FOR THE NEXT 10 MONTHS KEEPS THEM FROM CHEWING EVERYTHING IN SIGHT.SUPERVISION WITH CHILDREN, AND OBEDIENCE TRAINING.SOCIALIZATION-A GOOD DOG MUST BE EXPOSED TO A LOT OF STIMULATION AS A PUPPY SO THAT NEW PEOPLE AND ENVIRONMENTS DO NOT INTIMIDATE THEM AS ADULTS. THE MORE POSITIVE EXPERIENCES -IN AND OUT OF THE HOME- AS A PUPPY, THE BETTER.ADOPTERS THAT WANT TO HAVE GOOD DOGS MUST BE PREPARED TO PUT THE TIME AND EFFORT INTO TRAINING. PUPPIES IN PARTICULAR ARE A LOT OF WORK !! THEIR BEHAVIOR AND STAGES ARE EQUIVALENT TO A 2 OR 3 YEAR OLD CHILD. IT TAKES A FULL YEAR TO HAVE A CALMER, WELL ADJUSTED DOG! PLEASE DO NOT CONSIDER ADOPTING A PUPPY IF YOU HAVE NOT THOROUGHLY THOUGHT THROUGH THE PROS AND CONS OF A PUPPY...PUPPIES CHEW, JUMP AND THEY CAN BE HYPER. THIS IS NORMAL PUPPY BEHAVIOR.PATIENCE, TOYS, SOCIALIZATION, SUPERVISION AND OBEDIENCE TRAINING IS A MUST!!All known information is listed here. We do our best to give accurate information, but most of our dogs are rescues and don't come with a known history. We do our best to estimate age, breed and health, but we are giving an educated guess. We start the rescue process and we send dogs to homes where you are in effect the finishing school for the dog.http://newenglandallbreedrescue.org/forms/adoptionapplicationneabr.rtfPlease submit all Adoption Applications to: application@newenglandallbreedrescue.org
