American Staffordshire Terrier - Large - Adult - Male - Dog - Bu
Description
URGENT!The Taunton Animal Shelter, like most shelters, is filling up fast. Billy has been at the shelter for awhile so needs to find a home soon! Please come visit this handsome and fun fellow and maybe you will find that lifelong companion you've been looking for! Buddy is a male American Staffordshire Terrier mix about 2 years old. As you can see from the photo, he is a Big Red Sox Fan! Buddy was adopted as a pup from the Taunton shelter and then surrendered by his family due to his allergies. Since he has been at the shelter, his skin allergies seem to have disappeared. This could possibly be due to the cooler weather and/or perhaps he was allergic to something at his previous home. When giving him medicated baths, Buddy was great in the tub and totally enjoyed every minute of being pampered. He will need someone dedicated to staying on top of this to ensure his allergies do not recur and someone who is willing to invest a little extra time and TLC. A consistent good quality diet will definitely help. Buddy would be happiest as the only pet in the home. He loves Kongs with treats and rawhide bones. He would be well suited for an active person/family who would include him in lots of activities. Buddy would enjoy and benefit from obedience training as he is amart and will learn quickly. He is a friendly guy - who appears to like everyone. In addition to bringing luck to the Red Sox, he is hoping his Red Sox hat will also bring him luck - that he will "hit a home run" and find a new home and family soon! He has been patiently waiting a long time. If you'd like to find out more about this dog, please contact the Taunton Animal Shelter at (508) 822-1463 or via email. To learn more about what to do when you bring your new dog home or about your dog's behavior, visit our Ask the Trainer page! PoundHounds is dedicated to helping the dogs in town pounds. We do this by paying for spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations and vet exams, medications and treatments, behavioral training, Kuranda beds, and other supplies. Most towns, especially smaller towns, cannot afford to pay for these services and supplies; Animal Control is woefully underfunded and so dogs are adopted out intact, with the ability to produce more puppies who then may end up back at shelters and town pounds. For injured or ill dogs, the chances are grim since there's no money to pay for exams, x-rays or medications, let alone surgeries. Budgets are so tight, some Animal Control Officers pay for supplies out of their own pocket! In these situations, PoundHounds steps in to help care for these town dogs, who deserve the same chances as those at other shelters and rescues.
